How it works

Your games stay yours.

Public games only

We read the same games anyone can see on your Lichess or Chess.com profile. No password, no login, no account with us.

Read in your browser

Your phone or computer asks Lichess or Chess.com for the games and works out your openings itself. Nothing is sent to Chess4pro and nothing is kept.

Every match checked

A mug counts as yours when the exact position printed on it appeared in your games, or when your games were that same opening by name.

Exact position. We replay the first eight moves of every game. If the position on a mug shows up at the same move number, that game counts for that mug. The deepest match wins, so a Najdorf counts for the Najdorf mug, not the plain Sicilian.
Same family. If the game left the line before the mug’s position, we use the opening’s name from Lichess or Chess.com, but only inside the same family: an English Opening “Reversed Sicilian” never counts as a Sicilian.
